STELLA TLUSCIK Obituary

Stella E. Tluscik, 88, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother, spending her years as a homemaker. Prior to her marriage in 1946, she worked for a time as a legal secretary, and then, during the war years, as a secretary at the North American Aviation plant in the Fairfax District. She enjoyed cooking and baking, polka dancing, and doing volunteer work for the Providence Medical Center Auxiliary, where she was the corresponding secretary. She was a member of the Don Lipovac Booster Club, Christ the King Catholic Church and its Altar Society, and the National Polish Alliance. Stella was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edmund Tluscik; her parents, Rose (Schreatter) and Joseph Michalski; and her sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Joseph Peresko. She is survived by two daughters, Diana Houston (Ken), of St. Paul, MN, and Linda Knight (Jack), of Bonner Springs, KS; a son, Russell Tluscik (Elizabeth), of Gladstone, MO; eight grandchildren: Matthew Knight (Amy), Angela Sjostrom (Keith), Christopher Houston (Cathy), Carla Wheeler (Patrick), Timothy Knight, and Samuel, Emily, and Greg Tluscik; six great- grandchildren with two more expected soon; sisters-in-law, Florence Hamilton, and Janet Tluscik; and many nieces and nephews. Stella was famous for her delicious cheesecake, as to which Walter Cronkite once remarked that it was the best he had even eaten, the world over. Rest assured that Ed & Stella are dancing the polka once again, and that there will be cheesecake in heaven for dessert this Thanksgiving. Visitation will be at the Church and will begin at 10 a.m., Friday, November 25, 2011, preceding The Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd St., Kansas City, KS. Memorial Contributions may be made to Christ the King School or to the KU Alzheimer's Disease Center. Memories of Stella and condolences to the family may be sent to www.meyersfuneralchapel.com. Dear Knight Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Stella was an amazing woman! She worked for us in the Medical Staff office at Providence Medical Center for 15 years. We have missed having her here but it meant that she could spend more time with her family. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. She has taken her special place with the Lord and is at peace.
