Virginia Rodriguez Obituary

Virginia J. Rodriguez 79, passed away October 19, 2006 at Research Medical Center. Services will be held Monday October 23rd, 10 a.m. at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church, 7009 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133. Visitation will be held Sunday October 22 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel with a rosary at 3 p.m. Burial at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Virginia was born December 12, 1926 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to W. Gardner and Gladys (Dawes) Ackley. She moved to Missouri with family (step father) James H. Bishop in 1932, and graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1944. She then went on to graduate from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She married C.L. Nentwig in 1949 and they became the parents of daughter Mary C. Nentwig. Virginia moved to Kansas City in 1963 and she met and married her second husband, Gilbert Rodriguez. They were married in 1969. She retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 1990 after 23 years of service. Virginia is survived by daughter, Mary Rogers and her husband William Rogers, of Lee's Summit, MO. Granddaughters, Gina Reese of New York, NY, Lauren Brattin and her husband Richard Brattin Jr., of Pleasant Hill, MO, great grandchildren, Mariah, Kayla and Richard Brattin III, sister Marilyn Lyday of Plano, TX, and several beloved members of the Rodriguez family. A great part of her life was devoted to her beloved cats. Donations may be made to the Kansas City Friends of the Zoo in remembrance of Virginia Rodriguez. What a sweet and lovely woman our Virginia. I was a rookie before her retirement with Blue Cross Blue Shield but learned good humor from her. She was missed much after her retirement and will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
