WILLIAM ASHLEY BACKS

1955 - 2014

William Ashley Backs, 59, of K.C., MO passed away at home Sat., Oct. 11, 2014. Billy was born Mar. 24, 1955 in Lexington, MO, the son of Forrest & Joan Backs. Billy was a 1973 graduate of Lexington H S, graduated from Wentworth Military Academy and finished his BS in Marketing at Missouri State University. He is survived by his daughters Stefania Marie and Cosmina Rose of Leawood, KS, brother Robert (Bob) Forrest Backs and his wife, Jana, brother Stephen (Randy) Randall Backs, two nieces Jessica Ann Backs and Nicole Lee Backs and nephew Stephen Randall Backs II. Billy worked at American Century Investments for 14+ years. He had a real gift for writing, was an avid runner and loved fine art movies, books and college football. He was very proud of his time spent in the Peace Corp in Gabon, West Africa, building school houses for the Gabonese villagers. In honor of Billy's service in the Peace Corps, we are asking that contributions be made to the Peace Corps Partnership Program's Education Fund.
