Red was a great and honorable man. I was lucky to have known him. He went no where without his beloved "hawkeye" in his pocket. When I did something well in his courtroom he was often quick to ask if I was from Cincinnati.
He loved and missed his wife dearly, but always spoke of great pride regarding his daughters ---- proper "Ohio" girls.
He was one of the good ones.

We worked with "Red" at the courthouse, many times in the same courtroom. Conversations with him were always interesting. He was most generous with answers and tips about investments if asked. He often described the existing clouds in the sky and whether they meant good weather or rain. When introduced to juries, judges often told about his background as a navigator in B-26s during WWII. Those jurors were always fascinated. He was an amazing man.

My husband and I knew Red from the courthouse. I knew him when I was a court reporter there for years and Joe from when he became a judge. Red was a great guy and had had such an interesting life. He missed his wife greatly. We went to dinner with him one night and he told us many interesting stories, including meeting Winston Churchill. He was very proud to be from Ohio and to have gone to The Ohio State. We are very grateful for his service to our Country. Our lives are fuller having known him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family.

To the Lefeber Family.
My husband and I both knew Red from the courthouse and came to consider him like family. He spent many holidays at our home after his wife passed. He was a very special person and his wit and knowledge will be missed greatly. Rest in Peace Red.

To the Lefeber family,
I am sadden to learn of the passing of "Red". He was a great man, rich in history and education. Another great loss to this country as a member of the "greatest generation", a war hero, a patriot and great gentleman. I am proud to call him a friend and former co-worker from the Judicial Center.
