Died: Feb. 9, 2016; in Geneva, IL
Frederick Bruce Hoekstra, 76, of Batavia passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva. Fred was born December 19, 1939, in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Ralph "Jerry" and Cecilia (Dryer) Hoekstra. He was united in marriage to Janemarie Vaughan Hall March 16, 1991, in Kaneville, IL.
Fred served in the United States Army, where he was an Engineering Records Inspector. Following his service time Fred returned to Grand Rapids and continued to run the family landscaping business.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Janemarie; five children, Craig (Barb) Hoekstra, Shelley Gibson, Brian (Jessica) Hoekstra, Alissa Hall and Nathaniel (Lynne) Hall; six grandchildren, Tayler, Corie and Breanna Gibson, Jacob and Sarah Hoekstra, and Bridget Hoekstra.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Hallwachs; and a brother, Daniel Hoekstra.
Fred loved his devoted wife and family above all else in life, and dearly enjoyed his annual trips to Bermuda and exploring other destinations, as well as being an avid NASCAR enthusiast. He devoted his working career to improving and managing American manufacturing plants for 32 years before settling into real estate.
All funeral services were held privately, per Fred's wishes.
