James Steve, formerly of St. Charles, passed away Dec. 12, 2011.

He was the son of Doris and Irvin Steve. He was born Sept. 19, 1948, at St. Joseph Hospital. He lived in St. Charles during his youth and was a graduate of St. Charles High School.

He was a sales executive all of his adult life until his retirement and move to Florida.

His survivors are his mother, Doris; brother, Douglas; niece, Courtney; nephew, Garrett; and many cousins and friends, and was preceded in death by his father, Irvin Steve.

A private burial will be held at Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin. Laird Funeral Homes of Elgin and West Dundee are in care of arrangements. For information, call 847-741-8800 or visit www.lairdfamilyfuneralservices.com.

Jim Steve was a gallant and stalwart gentleman...although he was friends of my older brothers, I remember his presence, if yesterday. With that, his life had purpose and he made a difference and his family should be proud. I still see that smile and take over the room style....what a guy!

Jim was one of my oldest & favorite hunting partners. We hunted around STC, Montana, Tenn. Many good times. So sorry he is gone. I will miss him.
