William Carl Wurtz Obituary

Died: Feb. 18, 2012

William Carl Wurtz, 76, of Lost Lake passed away Feb. 18, 2012, at KSB Hospital.

Bill was born Nov. 12, 1935, in Oak Park.

Bill served one year in the National Guard and four years in the Air Force. Bill was a very humble man, never understanding the extent to which his love influenced his family and friends. Bill loved all of us, family, friends and acquaintances. He was always helping and giving of what he had, a helping hand, a story, a joke, even giving up his fishing secrets. Bill fished with his friends, children and grandchildren. When you met Bill, he was your friend. He was truly a kind man.

He is survived by the love of his life, Carolyn (Allenfort) Wurtz, his wife of 53 years; a daughter Cari (Zwick); two sons, Jeffrey and Christopher; 12 grandchildren, Nicholas McGinn, William Zwick, Elizabeth Zwick, Jeffrey, Hayden, Reagan, Steffan, Kristin, Carolyn, Samuel, Margaret and Georgia Wurtz; and three great-grandchildren, Mark David and Savanna Wurtz.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Georgia Ray (Andrews) and Elmer Carl Wurtz.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, with a visitation one hour prior at St. John's Lutheran Church, 803 Paddock St., Ashton, IL, 815-453-7314. Cremation rites have been accorded by Coulon-Lyons Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 815-453-2441. Online condolences can be made at www.coulon-lyonsfamilyfh.com.

Carol, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. We haven't been close in recent years but it seems like just yesterday Bill and Mark were setting up equipment for Joyful Noise. I'm sure they had a good laugh since heaven's music has no need for tech boards! Please feel free to reach out if you want to talk or need to share. Love ya, Wear Family - Jean Ann, Sean and Aaron
