John Mee Obituary
John Thomas Mee was born February 19, 1945, in Richmond, California, to Warren and Marjorie Mee.
John loved to hunt and fish throughout his childhood and into his adult life. During his time at Medford High School, he enjoyed playing football as a defensive tackle. His senior year, he made his mark with an undefeated season and a victory at the state championship. As a young adult, John began his career loading boxcars at Timber Products while attending Southern Oregon College as a psychology major. He later changed career paths and joined the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
After a few years, an opportunity arose through his uncle to join Bechtel Corporation, where he eventually became a Safety and Security Manager at the corporate office in San Francisco, California. John continued in the construction industry for many years, traveling from job to job across the country. He worked for several major companies, writing and forming EPA Industrial hygiene and safety guidelines for normal construction as well as nuclear power projects. While working on large construction and mining projects, he also pursued other interests-writing dental hygiene manuals, wrote football and hunting books, attaining real estate licenses, working for the Red Cross, and tending to his love of gardening, hunting, and fishing across the country.
In 1995, John retired from construction after a change in his perspective on being away from home so often to be home and embrace his greatest role as a "stay at home dad," which he cherished until his passing on August 14, 2025.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Warren G. and Marjorie Mee. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Lee Mee; son and daughter in law Warren and Yvonne Mee; and four beloved grandchildren.
He will always be remembered as a strong, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and mentor who treasured his family and God above all else, always saying "make every day the best you can".
A Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date. Any well wishes may be sent to the family.
