Linda Mapes Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Linda Carole Mapes (née Pucci), age 81. She passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, in Medford, Oregon.
Born on April 22, 1944, in South Euclid, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Linda brought warmth and joy into the world from the very beginning. Her life was marked by a deep love for family, a passion for learning and creativity, and a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew her. A woman of remarkable strength and spirit, she faced many challenges throughout her life with grace and resilience.
On December 28, 1968, Linda married Merton J. Mapes in Ashland, Oregon. Their union was one of enduring love and partnership until Merton's passing on July 4, 2004. Together they built a life filled with shared joys and lasting memories.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tamara Grogan; her grandchildren Heather Thomson, Megan Thomson, Timmy (Kayla) Grogan, Tyler (Tiffanie) Grogan, and Jason (Makenzi) Grogan; and her great-grandchildren Keaton, Ellison, Amelia, Bennett, Flora, Emerson, Theodora, and Baby Boy Grogan. She also leaves behind her brother Frank Pucci and sister Janet Taylor.
A woman of many interests and talents, Linda found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a green thumb and spent countless hours tending to her garden. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals and baked goods - she loved cooking and baking for those around her and delighted in trading recipes with friends and family. A voracious reader and avid collector of books and coins alike, she nurtured a lifelong curiosity about the world.
Linda had a special fondness for cats as well as butterflies and hummingbirds - creatures that mirrored her gentle yet vibrant nature. Her sense of humor brought laughter to many moments; she was known for being funny in the most endearing ways. Above all else, she will be remembered for her kindness and generosity - qualities that defined her relationships with others throughout her life.
May Linda's memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire acts of kindness in the world she leaves behind. She will be remembered in a private celebration of life in White City, Oregon.
