Beverly Weston

Long-time Kearney resident, Beverly Jean Weston, age 94, died Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Beverly had recently moved to Echo Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care in La Vista, Nebraska. An immediate, family only interment will take place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Beverly Jean Cobleigh was born January 31, 1931, in Lincoln, Nebraska,to Clair "Tye" Hutton Cobleigh and Ruth Laverne Cobleigh (Hulbert). Beverly attended College View High School (Lincoln) from 1945 to 1949 and Nebraska Wesleyan University (Lincoln) from 1949 to 1953. Beverly was a member of the Phi Mu sorority, and she also worked part-time (accounting) for her parent's electrical contracting and appliance store. Beverly earned her bachelor's degree from Wesleyan in Psychology. Beverly married Elton Lawrence Weston in December 1953 and traveled the world as a military spouse. For 23 years, Beverly developed/maintained households 17 times in Texas, Massachusetts, Washington State, Alabama, Germany, Indiana, California, Florida, Maryland, Afghanistan and New Mexico. In 1975, Beverly and Elton moved back to Nebraska, closer to family. Beverly applied her many skills to help run their Fixed Base Operation (FBO) business in Kearney named Midway Aviation. They sold the business after 10 years and Beverly worked for a telephone answering service until she retired in 1995.
Beverly enjoyed travel and participation as a member of the Flying Farmers and Ranchers Organization. Beverly reigned as 'Queen' of the Nebraska Chapter of the Flying Farmers two nonconsecutive years (1989, 2000).
Beverly was preceded in death by parents, Tye and Ruth Cobleigh; husband, Elton Weston (2011); brother, Clair Wendall Cobleigh (2015); and granddaughter, Margaret Elisabeth Weston (2014).
Beverly is survived by sons, Dr. Lawrence Weston and his wife, Kathryn of Folly Beach, South Carolina, John Weston and his wife, Anna-Maria of Sugar Land, Texas, Dr. Mark Weston and his wife, Jeanette of Portland, Oregon, Dr. Michael Weston and his wife, Susan of Omaha; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
