Doris Olsen Obituary

Kearney resident, 87

KEARNEY - Doris M. Olsen, 87, of Kearney died Monday, July 1, 2013, at St. John's Good Samaritan Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Matt Koperski officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.

Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.

Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

She was born April 3, 1926, near Heartwell to Robert and Elizabeth (Bernert) Evans.

On Feb. 22, 1964, she married Lloyd "Ole" Olsen in Fremont. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Fred Allison and his wife, Judy, and Bev Chavez and her husband, Juan Jr., all of Kearney, Pat Tatro and her husband, Terry, of Issaquah, Wash., and David Olsen and his wife, Kim, of Lincoln; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She grew up and attended school in Kearney. She moved to Denver in 1948 and lived there until she returned to Kearney in 1958. She worked as a bartender in Kearney and Denver until she retired in 1982.

Doris was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Kearney American Legion Auxiliary and a past president of the Kearney Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, doing puzzle books and her Boston terriers.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to St. James Catholic Church Building Fund or the St. John's Good Samaritan Center.
