Minden resident, 86

MINDEN - Eugene D. Rasmussen, 86, of Minden died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Bethany Home in Minden.

Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Minden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cathy Cole officiating. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery before the memorial service with military honors by Heartwell Veterans of Foreign Wars and Minden American Legion.

There will be no visitation. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Minden to Henry and Estell (Shannon) Rasmussen.

On June 12, 1947, he married LaVon Zade. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sons, Greg Rasmussen and his wife, Denise, of Cozad and Brad Rasmussen and his wife, Donna, of Alaska; daughter, Kristi Rasmussen of Omaha; grandchildren, Robert, Lee and his fiancée, Michele, Kati, Justin and his wife, Chelsi, and Tyler; and sister, Jeannette Rupprecht of Campbell.

He grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School. He and LaVon made their home in Minden.

Gene was the parts manager for Minden Terminal John Deere Implement. He worked at the Terminal for 57 years. He enjoyed being with his family and visiting with friends.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Minden American Legion for 65 years.
