George (Gary) Lambert

October 28, 1935 - August 24, 2024

George Garrett Lambert, age 88, formerly of Kearney, NE passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Allen, TX.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George (Gary) Garrett Lambert, a beloved resident of Kearney, NE for over 60 years. He most recently had lived in Allen, TX to be with his wife and near his daughter. Gary was born on October 28, 1935 in a farm house near the Indian Cave State Park in Nemaha County, NE to Hobart A and Melba (Garrett) Lambert. He spent his early years going to a rural school and working on the family farm. After two years of High School at Stella High School in Stella, NE he moved to Kearney with his parents and graduated from Kearney High School in 1953. He enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball in High School. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, graduating in 1958. Shortly after graduating college, he married the love of his life Marci Jo Nicodemus on June 22, 1958. They were married for over 65 years until his wife passed in December of 2023. They had three children: Marci Ann Sarter of Plano, TX, Robert Lambert (Julie Heidemann) of Scottsdale, AZ and Charles Lambert (Julie Paprocki) of Omaha, NE. Gary had a career in Real Estate where he sold and appraised properties, as well as managed his own portfolio of rental properties. He was active in the Kearney Jaycees and was on the board of directors for the Kearney Little League, where he also managed a team for 7 seasons. He was an active member of the Kearney Elks Lodge for over 61 years. After retirement Gary and his wife Marci Jo enjoyed traveling to all 50 states of the United States and also took several trips abroad to Alaska, Africa and several different countries in Europe. Gary was also an avid Husker football fan, attending games from time to time, and was especially excited about the new coach and team this year. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Melba Lambert, and his father and mother in-law, John Vernon and Helen Nicodemus.

Those left to cherish his memories are his three children and spouses and his eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Danielle (Sarter) and her husband Chaz Hawkins, Lindsay (lambert) her husband Colin Stewart, Emerson Stewart, Turner Stewart, Dack Lambert and his wife Lexi Goettl, Harrison Lambert, Lauren Sarter, Morgan (Lambert) and her husband Ryan Bell, Jodi (Lambert) and her husband Connor Kuhlman, Madeline (Lambert) and her husband Jake Schleppenbach, and Mackenzie (Lambert) and her husband Ben Searle. He is also survived by his brother Joe Lambert.
