Hi! I'm looking for my cousin, Lorraine King Anderson and stumbled across Merle's obit. I wish to send heartfelt sympathy to the family, and to invite Lorraine to be in touch. I am her 1st cousin, mom Mildred's niece; Robert Hobart's daughter: Susan Dirks, in Iowa City. We were so thrilled to hear of your marriage and the boys through Grandpa and Ruby, when they were still alive. I'm sharing my email with Nelson-Bauer, hoping to make contact.
Greg and I send our very best and much love.

On board the USS Constellation, 1985.
I was relatively new to 3rd division and we was about to have an "underway replenishment" it was about 4am when I got to the office and the chief wasn't there yet. I thought I would surprise him and BM1 wise by making some coffee.
Not realizing there are two different water taps, salt water and fresh water, .....I made saltwater coffee.
I've never seen someone spit coffee that far before lol
I sure miss those times. Chief Anderson really helped me grow out of my boyhood stage. I wish I could have found him before his passing.
He will be forever in my thoughts.
