Michael Vertrees Obituary

Gibbon resident, 62

KEARNEY - Michael E. Vertrees, 62, of Gibbon died Monday, June 25, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Kearney with the Rev. Gary Main officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and one hour before services Saturday at the church.

He was born March 13, 1950, in David City to Russell and Ruby (Thayer) Vertrees.

On May 12, 1974, he married Donna Schulze in Missouri.

Survivors include his mother of Kearney; daughter, Heather Brosh of Georgetown, Texas; son, Chris Vertrees and his wife, Rachel, of Irving, Texas; daughter, Tina Vertrees, of Austin, Texas; sisters, Becky Zimbelman and her husband, Stan, of Kearney and Cindy Vertrees of Hastings; grandchildren, Brittney Brosh, Brian Brosh, Michael Vertrees and Kanaan Vertrees; and several nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1968. Mike worked for the Department of the Interior of the U.S. government.

Mike will be remembered by friends and family as a very generous man, always willing to give of his time and talents.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Timothy.

Memorials are suggested to the family for designation later.
