Robert Peter Glandt was born on February 11th 1937 to Peter and Addele Glandt of Elkhorn, Nebraska. The Glandt family was influential in the Elkhorn/Omaha area - Bob's great-grandfather, Peter, was a homesteader when it was still the Nebraska Territory. Bob attended grade school and high school in Elkhorn, graduating in 1955. He then attended UNL for one year before going to work in the Union Stockyards in Omaha. That is where he learned the trade of buying cattle.
On November 6th, 1961, Bob married Margaret Lindgren, and they have two children Todd and Sally.
Bob accepted his first job as a cattle buyer for American Stores and moved his family to Kearney. It became his lifetime occupation, and he worked until age 81, retiring from Nebraska Beef. It was a career he loved, and he made many friends over the years, some of whom were third generation customers. Many of their brands are displayed on Bob's garage walls.
The Glandt family has enjoyed a full and wonderful life in Kearney.
He was in the Army Reserves from August of 1960 to April of 1966. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Kearney Country Club.
Bob's passions were walking a round of golf, shooting pool, bicycling, and taking care of his lawn and cars. He was a great dancer and loved a good joke. Fun fact about Bob - he had five holes-in-one over the years, and they were all left-handed!
Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret (Maggie) Glandt; son, Todd and Mary Jo Glandt; daughter, Sally and Trent Whittaker; and grandchildren Peter Glandt, Sophie Glandt, Ted Whittaker, and Helen (Whittaker) and Nolan Eatherton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Addele, his brother Dick and wife Ruth, and in-laws Bud and Dora Lindgren.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bob 1 year ago while covering for Dr Rodgers. He came in for a check-up and was accompanied by Maggie and daughter, Sally. His eyes were just beautiful. He had the biggest smile and gave my hand a good squeeze when I gave him mine and introduced myself.
Though our visit was short, but was able to share information that Maggie, Sally and the rest of Bob's family would need moving forward.
Maggie called me a few months later, asking if I could take over end of life cares for Bob; that humbled me. What a gift that would have been for me. I assured her that Hospice care would give him wonderful care to both Bob and the family. I'm sending my love to Maggie and her family. May God wrap his loving arms around you and ease your heartache.
God Bless you all! Amy Stump.

My condolences to the Glandt family on Bob"s passing. I met Bob through his work as a cattle buyer. He purchased cattle from 3 generations of my family. He was a fair and honest man to do business with, and he was always fun to have a conversation with. He was a quality person, who will be missed.
