Sylvia Zimmer

Pleasanton resident, 84

KEARNEY - Sylvia Zimmer, 84, of Pleasanton died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pleasanton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karla Sheffy officiating. Burial will be at Pleasanton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the church.

Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Dec. 11, 1925, on a farm four miles northwest of Ravenna to Edward and Dora (Rasmussen) Krichau.

On Aug. 10, 1948, she married Dean Zimmer in Kearney. He died May 30, 2001.

Survivors include her sons, Donald Zimmer and his wife, Marilyn, of Ravenna and Larry Zimmer of Pleasanton; daughters, Marjorie Behrendt and her husband, Bob, of Ravenna and Janet Enck and her husband, Terry, of Grand Island; grandchildren, Sue Bunger and husband, Jeff, Carrie Zimmer and fiancé Dave Hervert, Melanie Zimmer and special friend Stefan Boshoff, Mike Behrendt and wife, Amy, Bobbi Tavenner and husband, Scott, John Behrendt, Danelle Nutt and husband, Josh, Breann Zimmer, Morgan Dean Zimmer, Emily Zimmer and Courtney Borland, Tara Enck and fiancé Michael Witte, and Tamra Nielson and husband, Isaiah; and great-grandchildren, Megan Hunke, Jared Hunke, Lainey Hervert, Aubree Hervert, Brittany Behrendt, Trevin Behrendt, Haley Tavenner, Aarron Tavenner and Lindsey Behrendt.

She received her grade school education at Dry Creek School District 20. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1943. She received Normal Training in high school and then taught in rural schools for five years.

She and Dean made their home on a farm northwest of Pleasanton. They moved into Pleasanton in 1989. She was the custodian at the United Methodist Church in Pleasanton for many years.

She was a 50-year member of Pleasanton United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Bert and James Krichau.
