Wayne Brummer Obituary

A private family memorial service for Wayne K. Brummer will be held at a later date, with Vicar Libby Florian officiating.
Wayne Kent Brummer, 71 years of age, of Wilcox, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at his home near Wilcox. Wayne was born in Holdrege, Nebraska, on August 24, 1953, the fourth of five sons, born to Allen "Hap" and Wilma (Bryan) Brummer.
He received his education from Wilcox Public School and graduated from Wilcox High School with the class of 1972. He pursued higher education in Hays, Kansas, for one year and completed his education at Kearney State College, graduating in 1976 with a business degree and a minor in mathematics.
On August 22, 1974, Wayne was united in marriage to Linda Lush at St. Peter's Church in Hildreth, Nebraska, and to this union two children were born: Kelly and Michael. The couple made their home near Wilcox, where Wayne farmed for over 45 years.
Wayne enjoyed going for motorcycle rides with Linda. He loved playing sports and games, especially baseball and card games.
He treasured coaching and attending as many of their kids and grandkids' sports and activities as he could.
He was a member of Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church in Holdrege.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Allen Brummer in 1948; and several aunts and uncles.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Linda Brummer of Wilcox; children: Kelly Jewett and her husband, Scott, Michael Brummer and his wife, Sydnee; three grandchildren: Kaitlyn Jewett, Mackenzie Jewett, and Chipper Brummer; brothers: Bruce Brummer and his wife, Denise of Merna, Nebraska, Terry Brummer and his wife, Shelley of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Scott Brummer and his wife, Rita of Wilcox; and one aunt: Donna Guthrie and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring Wayne's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Wayne's honor, and kindly suggested to Spirit of Grace Church in Holdrege, Brookstone Home Health and Hospice of Kearney, and the Wilcox Volunteer Fire Department.

I played baseball with Wayne at Kearney State from 1973-76. I was a pitcher and always enjoyed having Wayne holding down 3rd base. May he rest in peace. Many good memories of Wayne. Praying for his family. God Bless, Rick Eiserman from Prescott, AZ
