John L. Sexton, age 77 of Belle Fourche, died Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Rolling Hills Healthcare Center in Belle Fourche.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30am Monday, October 28, 2024 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place at Pine Slope Cemetery.
John Lewis Sexton was born August 7, 1947 in Huron, South Dakota. He was a twin son of Harry and Margeret (Bonebrake) Sexton. John grew up on a family farm near Huron, and he graduate from the Huron High School. On February 29, 1980, John was united in marriage to Del Oja in Buffalo, South Dakota. Even though they later divorced, John and Del remained close to each other. For more than 40 years, John was a truck driver. Trucking took John to many places throughout the country, and John drove well over one million miles. In is trucking career, he worked for Larson Trucking, Moncur Trucking, and Anders Trucking of Union Center. John loved fishing and hunting, and he loved his dog Clancy very much.
John is survived by his children, Joni Sexton of Belle Fourche, Coral Sexton of Spearfish, John Lyman Sexton of Gillette WY, Jamie Lee Sexton of Belle Fourche; ex-wife, Del Sexton of Belle Fourche; 2 brothers, Harry Sexton Jr. of Bath, PA, Jim Sexton of Redfield SD; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his good friend, Roger Brimmer. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jason; and sisters, Ramona Diaz, Shirley Curl, Penney Sexton.
