Scott Iverson Obituary
Scott Kelly Iverson, born July 27, 1957, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, at the Sandford Medical Center, Vermillion, SD.
Scott was born to Myron and Kathleen "Kay" Iverson in Vermillion. Myron and Kay had two older children, Clark and Jeanne, and 14 years later, along came Scott. He graduated from Vermillion High School in 1975 and remained in Vermillion for much of his adult life.
Scott was a passionate man who deeply cared for Vermillion and the University of South Dakota (USD). During his time at USD, he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and USD Strollers. He was part of these communities for the rest of his life.
After graduating from USD with a master's in political science, Scott became a forever Coyote and remained an active alumnus. Scott would go on to mentor and support fraternity brothers for many years. Scott was ecstatic to attend the 50th anniversary of Beta Theta Pi at USD with his brother Clark. Scott enjoyed retelling old Strollers' jokes to his nephews who have now passed them down to their children.
As a font of stories and knowledge, Scott always kept the conversation going. He regaled friends, family, and strangers with stories from his life in Vermillion and escapades at USD. He loved to talk about his big sister, Jeanne, and to give updates on what was happening around town.
Scott met his wife, Julia (Jelinek), in Vermillion and they were married on Nov. 21, 1992. He loved Julia and his family very much. Scott always stayed connected with his nieces and nephews and made sure to keep tabs on his ever-growing number of great-nieces and nephews. He had many fond memories of trips to Minneapolis to visit family. Scott loved celebrating Thanksgiving and always made sure to catch the Vikings' game in between family time.
Scott had a great sense of humor. He had a booming laugh that could be heard from the other side of the room. When he was asked, "How are you?", Scott always responded, "I am fantastic". His family hopes to continue to honor Scott and his life in fantastic ways.
He is preceded in death by his parents Myron and Kay Iverson, his brother-in-law and sister Bob and Jeanne (Iverson) Fullenkamp.
Scott is survived by his spouse of thirty-one years, Julia; his brother and sister-in-law Clark Iverson and Donna Piazza; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Milo and Jeanette Jelinek, sister-in-law Joanie (Jelinek) Madsen, and honorary sister-in-law, Mary Kay (Fullenkamp) Kohles-Baker. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces: David Iverson; Eric and Ying Iverson; Kris Iverson and Mona Gardner; Karin Iverson-McChristy and Doug McChristy; Pat and Melany Fullenkamp; Connel Fullenkamp and Karin Romines; Liz Fullenkamp; Quinn and Lisa Fullenkamp, along with many great-nephews and great-nieces.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. The service will start at 10:30 a.m. A lunch will follow at the Faith Fellowship of the Open Bible Church in Vermillion.
