John Klene Obituary
John Edward Klene, 81, of Rockford, Illinois, went to be in the arms of Jesus on December 22, 2023. John leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Diane Klene.
John excelled in track and field and baseball during his time in school. He graduated from Hinckley Big Rock High School in 1960. November 4, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart in Big Rock, Illinois. He worked as a hired man at local area farms where he learned his work ethic. He then went on to work at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Aurora, Illinois for over 30 years before retiring.
In retirement he spent his time traveling, playing bingo, Wii bowling and euchre at their local senior center as well as volunteering his time at their church. He also enjoyed going to bluegrass concerts, watching the Cubs and spending time with his family. John and Diane moved to Rockford, Illinois to be close to their great grandchildren. He was heavily involved in the activities at their Independent Living Facility, including Wii bowling, starting a euchre group, and playing bags.
John is survived by his wife, Diane Klene; His children, Brenda Beck (Klene), Michael Klene; Grandchildren, Jeremy Klene, Johnna Kulesza (Beck), and Cheyenne Hill; Great Grandchildren, Destiny Klene, Leylah Klene, Emmet Klene, J.J. Klene, Hailey Klene, Christian Klene, Elena Klene, Leonardo Kulesza, and Harper Kulesza; As well as a sister, Connie Burks (Klene).
Preceded in death by his Parents, Thomas Klene and Mary Klene (Ritchey); Parents-in-law, Willie Bailey and Velma Bailey (Thompson); As well as an infant sibling, and brothers, Lester Klene and Loren Klene.
A visitation will be held for John on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 10:30 – 11:30 A.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry St. Sandwich, IL 60548. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 A.M., officiated by Pastor Allen Schuler, at the funeral home. Fellowship and a light lunch will follow the service at 1:00 P.M.
