Daniel Odegaard Obituary
1934 - 2013
Daniel V. Odegaard Jr., 78, of Kenosha, died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at his residence.
Born on June 10, 1934, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Daniel V. Sr. and Alice (Scherrer) Odegaard. He attended Kenosha schools.
On Oct. 12, 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. serving proudly as a Sgt. during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at Lake Mead, Nev. He received the Good Conduct medal upon his discharge on Oct. 11, 1956.
He was united in marriage to Roberta Knight on June 23, 1962 at St. George Catholic Church.
For 34 years he was employed as a set up man in Dept. 816 at A.M.C. retiring in 1986.
Dan was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the U.A.W. Local #72 retirees.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert (Lourelli) Odegaard, Lisa Lee, and Thomas (Karen) Odegaard. Dan will also be sadly missed by his six grandchildren, Nick (Phil), Gerod (Megan),Heath, Taylor, Jessica, Coleton, Michael, and Victor and his two great grandsons, Logan and Landon.
Dan is further survived by his three brothers, Floyd (Sandra), Ronald (Zoraida), and Donald (Carol) Odegaard; his sister Marianne (John) Mikkonen, and his brother- in- law, John Thomas.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael; a grandson, Michael Lee. Jr. and a sister, Marlene Thomas.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment with full military honors will take place on Monday, May 20, 2013 at
9 a.m. at Southern WI Memorial Veterans Cemetery. A visitation for Dan will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances would be appreciated by the family
Dans family would like to extend their special thanks to the staff of Hospice Advantage as well as his grandson-in-law Phil, for the special love and attention shown to his grandfather.
