Mary Mancusi Obituary

Mary Ann Mancusi

December 5, 1929 - March 18, 2025

Mary Ann Mancusi was born in Monon, Ind. on December 5, 1929. She attended Illinois schools and worked for State Farm Insurance Co. in Bloomington, Ill. and International Harvester Co. in Melrose Park, Ill.

She moved to Kenosha where she married Fred Mancusi in May of 1955, passing in 2003. Fred was a professional musician playing locally and with many big bands of the day, later working and retiring from American Motors. Mary Ann worked in the offices of the Union Dye dry cleaners for eight years. She later attended Racine – Kenosha Teachers College and Carthage College, pursuing a degree in education and substitute taught for several years.

Their son Mark was born in 1967 and raised in Kenosha. She then became active in the public schools, taught Sunday school at Immanuel Methodist, was active in the Kenosha Shrine Auxiliary for a short time and worked at the Shalom Center. Mary Ann began working for the Kenosha Unified School District in 1977, and was employed there for 30 years, retiring in 2007. After retirement Mary Ann enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. In the summer time her favorite spot was her front porch and was often found reading or spending time with neighbors. She very much loved her cat, Rosie who was a great companion. She will be missed by her amazing family and friends who she shared time with, traveling, talking, and enjoying an "Old Fashioned".

The family would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to the special care givers who enabled her to live in her own home and the team at Hospice Alliance Hospice House for the amazing compassion and providing peace in her final days.

She is survived by her beloved son, Mark (Teresa) Mancusi.

You were an amazing mom, and we had a special bond. I will miss you every day.

In lieu of flowers memorials to Shalom Center or Immanuel Methodist Church are appreciated.

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a memorial service at 6 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home. A private burial will take place in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, Somers, Wis.
