In loving memory of Dominick A. Mancusi
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dominick Mancusi, a devoted husband, beloved stepfather proud grandfather, proud uncle and cherished member of both the Brooklyn and Fort Myers communities. Dominick passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, joy and a deep family love.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY Dominick embodied the grit, loyalty, and spirit that defined his city. He bravely served his country as a US Navy Veteran and later dedicated 30 years of his life as a firefighter with the New York City Fire Department. Through every call and every shift, Dominick stood as a quiet hero-selfless, dependable and courageous.
Dominick was one of seven siblings, growing up in a lively and loving home where the value of family was instilled early and carried throughout his life. After retiring he eventually settled in Fort Myers, Florida though his heart always held a deep connection to his Brooklyn roots.
He shared many beautiful years with his beloved wife Estelle, who preceded him in passing. Their love story was one of mutual respect, laughter and unwavering support.
Dominick is survived by his devoted stepchildren John Ryan, and Patricia Kiernan (Matthew), six adoring grandchildren and many great grandchildren lovingly known to them as Mickey. A large extended family of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews who knew him fondly as "Uncle Donnie". His presence will be dearly missed at family gatherings, where his stories, wisdom, and joyful spirit always lit up the room.
Beyond his service and devotion to family, Dominick was full of life. He enjoyed listening to music, reading about classic cars, and spending time in the kitchen. He was truly the life of the party, always with a warm smile and a kind word. His laughter was contagious, his spirit uplifting and his ability to make everyone feel welcome was unmatched.
In his later years, Dominick was lovingly cared for by Patty, his dedicated personal aide and "Buddy", whose kindness, patience, and companionship brought comfort, dignity and joy to his life. Her presence was a true blessing to him and to all who loved him.
Dominick lived a life of honor and humility- marked not only by service but by joy, passion, and unwavering love for those around him.
May his memory be a blessing, and may we continue to carry his light in our hearts.
"Fair winds and following seas, Dominick. You served, you protected, you lived, and above all you loved."
