1994 - 2014
Michael Melaku Jaros, 19, of Pleasant Prairie, died on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014.
He was born in Ethiopia on Aug. 1, 1994. Mike was the son of Mark and LaVerne (Kulisek) Jaros. He attended local schools and graduated from Harborside Academy.
An athlete, Mike ran Cross Country and Track for Tremper High School. He enjoyed being with family and friends and making them laugh with perfectly timed quips. A quiet person, Michael was gentle and kind to all. He was a hard worker, always ready to offer support, no matter what the task. He was employed by Strictly Stone, Inc. but temporarily on inactive seasonal layoff.
This heartfelt loss will be forever felt by his parents Mark and LaVerne; his siblings, Chad Jaros of Chicago and Dana and Serena Jaros of Pleasant Prairie; his Grandmother, June Jaros of Joplin, Mo., and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. A visitation for Michael will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to NAMI Kenosha Co., 5718 7th Ave., Kenosha, WI, 53140, would be appreciated by the family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Michael. He was my friend through high school. I will always remember him as a person that was calm as can be. That is what made him kind. I was always in awe with how he was with others. No matter what anyone was, he only gave respect. Once I graduated from high school I did not keep in touch with Michael. You never think that tragic things will happen to good people like him. I regret not keeping in touch. You will be missed, Michael. My thoughts and prayers are with Michael and his family.
