Thomas Peter Kupfer

May 14, 1957 - September 18, 2024

Thomas Peter Kupfer, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 18, 2024, in Gulfport, FL. Born on May 14, 1957, in Kenosha, WI, Tom attended St. Joseph Catholic High School before graduating from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, with a major in journalism.

Tom is survived by his three sons, Peter (Gina) Thomas Kupfer, Joseph (Carrie) Andrew Kupfer, and Marcus (Sarah) Edward Kupfer; his five grandchildren, Isaac, Eric, Christopher, Allison, and Jonathan; his siblings, Ellen Kupfer, Jim (Jean) Kupfer, Bob (Nadine) Kupfer, John (Melissa) Kupfer, and; and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and family.

Tom spent many years reporting on sports for the Galesburg Register Mail and later in Lake County for the Daily Herald. He earned an associate's degree in Business Data Processing from Carl Sandburg College and embarked on a second career as an entrepreneur in information technology while living in Grayslake, IL. He enjoyed retirement in Gulfport, FL where he was a cherished member of the community who will be missed by many.

Tom was known for his infectious enthusiasm and his love of life. He was a dedicated motorcycle rider, a talented sports reporter, an avid traveler and historian, and a lover of singing and music. He was a devoted and present father, attending and cheering on his sons through all their activities. Tom chronicled their adventures through photos, capturing countless memories. He will always be remembered as a loving father, a supportive friend, and a Motorcycle Grandpa.

A great friend from our high school days at St. Joes. Will always remember our Euphonious Juniors gig together.Last saw Tom about 5 years ago in Florida, was good to talk over old times and current events with him. RIP Kups, you were one of the best.
