Andrew Thomas Obituary

Andrew Lee Thomas
November 10, 1943 - January 20, 2021
Lexington, Kentucky - Thomas, Andrew Lee, 77, beloved husband, father, brother, and son, died January 20, 2021 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. Born November 10, 1943 in Pine Hill, AL, he was the son of the late Reverend Thomas Lee Threadgill and Rosa Lee (Thomas) Fisher. Mr. Thomas entered the US Army after graduating from high school, later enrolling in Alabama State University, where he also joined Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Following his graduation, he took a job with IBM in Kingston, NY. His IBM job brought him to Lexington, KY, where he later moved to then newly formed Lexmark International; he remained at Lexmark for the remainder of his professional career. Always a lover of books and learning, Mr. Thomas completed additional graduate business work at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, as well as at the Lexington Theological Seminary. Known for his wit, charm, and sense of humor, he enjoyed a lifetime of service in his church (Consolidated Baptist Church, where he served as interim pastor), fraternity (Omega Psi Phi), and as a board member of the Bluegrass Council of the Blind. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and running, and those who knew him best know that he always welcomed a good sweet potato pie or banana pudding. Survivors include wife of over 51 years, Juanita Lewis Thomas, daughters Andrea Nicole Thomas of San Jose, Ca, Dr. Antoinette Benita Thomas (Dr. Thomas Cibull) of Evanston, IL; three granddaughters, Haley Ann Cibull, Abigail Emma Cibull, and Madison Grace Cibull; four sisters, Sheryl Threadgill Matthews, Cynthia Frazier, Dr. Sarah Giles, and Eleanor Fisher; two brothers, Dr. Harold Threadgill and Larry Threadgill; three special cousins, Ralph Nicholson, Evelyn Hudson, and Katherine Pettway; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Fisher, Jr., and Anthony Threadgill. Funeral services and visitation will be private, with Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Rd, handling arrangements. He will be laid to rest at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Mrs Thomas, Andrea and Antoinette,

I am sending all of my love to you and praying for extra blessings and comfort during this unimaginably difficult time.

Andrea's shared so many great stories about Mr Andrew over the years, and the times I got to spend with him in person, I immediately understood why he was so beloved. I hope the warm memories, and the love he poured into your family, will comfort you in the days ahead.
