Bernice Gates Obituary

Bernice Prentice "Bunny" Gates, of Keene, Ky., widow of the late Herbert Gates, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 15, 2003. She was a retired employee of the University of Kentucky, Housekeeping Dept. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Turner and Maggie Tull Prentice. Those who remain to cherish her memory are; seven children; Herbert D. (Barbara) Gates, Gaithersburg, Maryland; Alonzo T. (Dale) Gates, Nicholasville, Ky.; Bernice (Lic. Dwight W.) Jackson, Keene, Ky; William Turner ( Antonia) Gates, Camp Nelson; Thomas Wilson Gates, Keene, Ky; David Lee (Nancy) Gates, South Bend, Indiana; Rev. Robert P. (Linda) Gates, Sr., Keene, Ky. Seventeen grandchildren: eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. One sister, Sarah F. (Rev. Henry Ed) Baker, Winchester, Ky and one uncle, Will Berry Prentice, Hawaii. The family can be reached at (859) 885-3123. Funeral services 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at Macedonia Baptist Church, Keene, with Rev. T. L. Jones officiating and Rev. Robert P. Gates, Sr. delivering the eulogy. Burial in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, at the church. Arrangements entrusted to O.L. Hughes & Sons Mortuary. Guest book at Legacy.com.

Mr. Dave - I just wanted to tell you that I lost my dad and grandma this year also, and that you will be okay. I think we both have the same living angel here on earth looking out for us - my angel helped my dad get back to Indiana to see grandma before he died too. Aren't angels great friends to have??? I miss my dad, and you'll miss your mom - but they will always be with us! We'll be fine.
