Lorendz Smith Obituary

Lorendz Smith Jr.

October 31, 1930 - March 19, 2026

Harrodsburg, Kentucky - Lorendz Smith Jr., who lived a life marked by service, devotion, and steady accomplishment, passed away on March 19, 2026, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, at the age of 95.

He was born on October 31, 1930, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Lorendz Smith Sr. and Mary Sue Ashby Smith. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lenora "Marie" Goggin Smith of Danville, Kentucky, as well as his brother, William Ward Smith. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Reed Smith.

He is remembered with love by his daughter, Sharon Ray Smith Hallock; his grandchildren, Gloria Hallock and Shelly Hallock; his great-grandchildren, Aric Brashear and Shamya Richards; his niece, Susan Smith; and his cousin, Sally Pace and Bob Pace of Louisville, Kentucky.

Mr. Smith was a proud graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he earned a Bachelor of Agriculture. His education laid the foundation for a lifelong career in agriculture and business, fields in which he earned the respect of colleagues and associates alike. He served as Area Manager of Agriculture Sales at Allied Chemicals and later as National Accounts Manager for Kaiser Agriculture. In each role, he was known for his professionalism, his knowledge, and his ability to build lasting relationships with those he served.

Before beginning his civilian career, Mr. Smith answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army. He rose to the rank of Captain during the Korean War, a distinction that reflected both his leadership and his commitment to duty. His military service remained an important part of his life, and he carried the values of discipline, honor, and responsibility with him in all that he did.

A man of Christian faith, Mr. Smith lived with a quiet strength and a deep sense of integrity. His faith was reflected in the way he treated others, in the loyalty he showed to family and friends, and in the dignity with which he approached life's many seasons. He was a member of several organizations that reflected his interests and lifelong affiliations, including Lifetime UK Alumni, Lifetime Agriculture Alumni, the Civil War Round Table, the Kentucky Colonel, the American Legion, and Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.

Those who knew Lorendz Smith Jr. will remember a man who valued hard work, family, and service. He carried himself with humility and purpose, and he left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. His life was one of accomplishment, but also one of devotion to the people and principles that mattered most to him.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his life. His memory will remain a source of comfort and pride to those who knew him best.
