Buford DeWayne ROBERTS

ROBERTS Buford DeWayne, of Lexington, 84, husband of Nira R. Roberts passed away May 22, 2012. He graduated from Oklahoma State University and Washington University, St. Louis, where he received his Doctorate degree. He devoted his professional life to cancer research at Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo, New York; Children's Cancer Research Hospital, Boston; and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis. He was the author of seventy scientific papers and belonged to a number of professional societies. In retirement he wrote many short stories and articles and was a member of a Writers' Class at the Lexington Senior Center. Survived by his wife of sixty years, one son, Kevin D. Roberts (Metra), and daughters, Leslie Clingan (Paul) and Valerie Price (Roby), five grandchildren, Brennyn (Corey), Lauren (Francisco), Trey, Shelby, and Jacob, and one great grandchild, Cadence. He was predeceased by one precious grandson, Andrew. Funeral arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Dr. DeWayne Roberts may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
