C. Holladay Obituary

C. Thomas Holladay, 85, Nicholasville, widower of Louise Davenport Holladay, died Wednesday June 4, 2003 at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore. He was a retired accountant with the Greyhound Bus Company, born in Lexington June 22, 1917 son of the late Milton and Mattie Black Holladay. Mr. Holladay was a graduate of Henry Clay High School and the University of Kentucky, he was a member and elder of The Church of the New Covenant in Doraville, Georgia and a former deacon and elder of the Second Presbyterian Church in Lexington and a former member of the Berkeley Hills Country Club. He was a First Lt. With the U.S.Army during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart with 3 Clusters, EAME Ribbon with 1 Star, Distinguished Service Cross and the Combat Infantry Badge. Surviving are two sons, Thomas "Tommy" Holladay and his wife, Sandy Wardell Holladay, Nicholasville, and Gary D. Holladay, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren, Troy N. Holladay and his wife, Lori, Lexington, Patrick D. Holladay, Colin T. Holladay and Abby J. Holladay all of Audubon, New Jersey and one great grandchild, Trent N. Holladay , Lexington, several nephews and nieces. He was also preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. A special thanks to the staff at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center for all the loving care which was given during the past year. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Friday at the Lexington Cemetery conducted by Chaplain Craig Ryan. Friends may call 4-6 P.M. Thursday at the W.R.Milward Mortuary-Southland. www.milwardfuneral.com.
