Mr and Mrs Comley, chase and I were very close in MCT and everyone called is AWG,(angry white guys). The last time I got to see him was in the Atlanta airport before we both went our separate ways but remained close. I was stationed in Okinawa Japan when I herd what had happened and I went crazy! I’m sorry I wasn’t there when he came home, but I was in route to Iraq myself. I was injured in Iraq 1 yr and 6 days later 8/12/2006. I would love to speak with y’all. I would like to come visit his grave and get closure. I wear a bracelet in his name everyday. It was truly a blessing to know your son. If you could email me or call/text. [email protected] or 8504632934 thank you and God bless.

Chase - you are missed - your smile, you laugh, your kindness and loyalty. I know you're up in Heaven, watching over us all, laughing with your Da and Uncle Clinton.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Chase, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To the Comley family. I have since returned from Iraq in Jan of 06. I was a SGT in the National guard unit that was in the convoy that your son was in when he had passed away. I have come to the chance to find out who your son was so I would never forget what a great sacrifice that he had made. There is not a day that I don't think of that day it weighs heavy on my thoughts. I just wanted to let you know that even though I meet your son breifly. He will always be in my thought and prayers.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dear Comley Family:

I was Chase's Fine Arts History/ Drama teacher during his senior year. I got to know Chase through his antics in class and his endearing and polite personality. He even asked me to prom because he thought it would be "cool" to show up with a teacher. I loved getting to know Chase and found him to be a wonderful "character." I was DEEPLY saddened to hear he was lost. As one of his teachers, I saw his potential for this world. I send you my warmest wishes and many blessings.

I am so very sorry for the loss of this incredible young man. I did not have the honor of knowing Chase but can sense what kind of person he was from the wonderful things his family and friends have said about him. Please know that you are not alone in your grief... I lost my good friend, Sgt. David Coullard of the 3/25 Batallion on 8/1/05 in a sniper attack. Never doubt that the sacrifice Chase made will live on many lifetimes over.. and may it comfort you to know that despite dying young, he lived long enough to fulfill his dream of making a difference in this world. Many people live their whole lives on the sidelines, always saying what should be done but never acting on it... Chase was not one of those people. He played the game valiantly with heart, honor and pride. Semper Fi Lance Cpl. Comley, you are a true hero. R.I.P.

Thinking of you:

Please accept my deepest sorrow on the loss of your beloved son; he was a brave American, a great Marine, and an honorable man. He was doing what he wanted to do and he was where he wanted to be, doing his duty. His life was not given in vain, but stands forever in the fight for freedom. His name will live forever and 100 years from now, long after our names are forgotten, his name will burn bright in the history of this great nation. He died for what he believed in and his sacrifice is felt by millions of Americans. Time and God will give you the peace and comfort that I hope you can find. It will take much time to heal from this loss and may God help you during this difficult time. As a Vietnam Veteran, please accept my prayers and please know that I am praying for you in this, the saddest time of your life. To the Comley Family:

I was so sad to hear about Chase and know this has been a most difficult time for all of you. My son, Pierce, played Little League Baseball with Chase at Gardenside...10 year old Allstars. What a special time in their lives. We both remember that Chase always had a smile on his face. My nephew just returned from a year in Iraq and we feel very fortunate about that. I continue to keep all of your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Cathy and Mark and family,

I heard the tragic news today that your son had been killed in Iraq. My heart breaks for you both. I know he must have been a courageous and disciplined soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice in order for all of us, and the next generation to live more freely. I can't even begin to express my sympathy to you. My son, too is a marine fighting in Iraq now. I am so very sorry for your agonizing loss. I am lifting you and your family up in prayer and I hope you will be able to find some moments of peace in the coming months. I am just so very very sorry.

Mark and Cathy

There are no words I can offer that will ease your pain at this time I am sure. Please know, however, that you have both been constantly in my thoughts and prayers since I heard the news. Children are an amazing gift from God, and we treasure them as long as we are able. I pray God will send comfort for you and give you the strength you need to help you through this heartbreaking time.

Dear Cathy and Mark,

Mere words cannot express the sadness, sorrow, and sympathy for your tragic loss that I feel! Although I never have had the privilege of meeting your children. I know in my heart that Chase and all your children have to be great kids cause they have great parents! If there is such a thing, you may take solace in the fact that your brave son gave the ultimate sacrifice in order that the world may be someday rid of the terrible terroist menace. I pray that our Lord Jesus take all of you in his loving arms and comfort you in this most terrible of times. I'm very proud and appreciative of your son and all those in the service who are defending the freedoms we all cherish. Please know that you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers. Bear

Kathy and Mark,

When I left Sayre eight years ago, Chase was in middle school. Even though it has been that long, I will always remember his zest for life and fun attitude. I still hang an ornament on our Christmas tree each year that was a gift from Laine and Cammie when they were little girls..now it will be a reminder of Chase as well. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was so saddened to hear about the news of Chase. It was only the week before we were at the beach with the Campbells when I found out he was serving our country in Iraq. I will always remeber how he had the ablity to create a fun situation and the love he had for life, which he passed on where ever he went. Your loss is great, and I wish I knew the words to ease your sorrow. I know he will be missed every day and he will forever be in our hearts. I hope all the wonderful memories will give you comfort during this time. Know that I am thinking of you, and that you have my deepest sympathy.

With sympathy and love,
