I can't believe it's been over a month now since we lost Dan. It seems just as fresh as yesterday. We all miss him so very much --Copy Express business goes on as usual, but it will never be the same without that dear man. There is such a "void" in our lives now. I still think about you--Ginny, Carol, Steve, Vera, and Meredith--every single day. And Danny too. Ginny, stay strong. I'm so very sorry for your loss. As hard as it is for us to be without him, I know it's even harder for you all.

Prayers are still with you.

Jinny, Steve and Mrs. Daugherty, My heart is still aching from the funeral. I think about all of you everyday,at the moment it seems allday. Daugherty's [as I called him] passing has affected so many. You all can be so proud of being his family, he was truly a great man. He always had a smile on his face and a great laugh! He was almost always late for his haircut, and of corse always had some excuse. He was good to everyone he knew, and never met a stranger. He is loved and will be missed by many. May GOD help each of you find some peace and help time to ease your pain. My blessings to each of you and to all who loved him. Tracy Applegate and family, Cumming, Ga formely of Lexington

Dear Carol, Steve and my dearest friend in the world Jinny,

My heart is profoundly affected by the loss of Danny. Danny always had an infectious affect on people. His kindness, generosity, incredible hospitality, integrity and genuine love that you felt from him is a huge loss for everyone that knew him. From the day I met him as Jinny's husband to be, to being included in their beautiful wedding, and every visit I made to Kentucky for the past 15 years to see them, and their visit to me in California, I knew that Danny was very special person and obviously I know Jinny has felt that from the bottom of her heart. The memories I have of his friendship will always be treasured.

I know all too well about losing a part of your family too soon. And dealing with the loss. Please know that Danny will always be around you and you will know it. I know that he is sad to leave you, but he is happy and free and is with his beloved father. They have a lot of catching up to do. Just think of Danny and he will be there.

With all my love,

Kerrie Preston

These are just some my favorite memories of Danny: picking me up and taking me for a slippery spin in his truck when I had gotten stranded in the snow, surprising Jinny and her girlfriends with a pre-paid bottle of Dom at her birthday dinner at Merrick Inn, tickling my kids when they visited him at Copy Express while I was making copies, watching the UK game at Jinny and Danny's home in South Pointe with my in-laws who are just country folk and expected to be intimidated by his success but who found him to be a giving, talkative, friendly, down-to-earth host who made sure they felt comfortable, taking me for a scary 4-wheeler ride by the creek, playing black jack with him and Jinny in New Orleans, his ear-to-ear smile at his 40th birthday party, always asking me how I was and how my business was going and then waiting to hear the answer... He was such an amazing person and I am so glad to have known him and his loyal friends. He will be missed by so many but my memories of him and the lessons he taught us about enjoying life and caring about others will never leave me. Jinny, you meant everything to him and he was so very proud of you. He would want you to live out his legacy with the strength of character he leaned on you for. It will get easier with time, I'm here for you always.

There's so much the heart would want to express about Dan but words escape me. He was a wonderful person to know. He was truly a pivotal person in my life at a time of distress. I was blessed to have associated with him. I've never met a better judge of character or a quicker thinker. At work there were times he would leave me dizzy. I will miss his infectious grin and the twinkle in his eye.

Dear family & friends,

My sincere, deepest sympathy goes out to you in your loss of Dan. I've known Dan for about 20 years. I first met him when I worked for International Spike on Winchester Rd. & continued business with Copy Express through Dan & Joan Fox at my next several jobs. Dan was a very respected person as well as a professional. He was always very pleasant & kind. He & Joan printed my Wedding invitations & napkins for my wedding in Sept. 1998. He will be GREATLY missed by all that knew him. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Words cannot express how dear Danny was to so many people. He left a lasting impression wherever he went. There will never be anyone like him. He was so goodhearted and always wanted everyone to have a good time when they were with him. He was a good friend to Mike and will be missed by both of us daily. I pray that time and God help us all to heal our hearts. I know our memories of this wonderful man will never fade.

Danny made me feel welcome into his family when I married his cousin, Stephanie, in 1992. He also did a great job on the postcards we used at Mason County High School to promote our football program and camps for little kids. He was a wonderful person. I am thankful that I got to know him and that he was a part of my life.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Dan's untimely passing. He was absolutely one of the best people I ever had the opportunity to work with. He was the consummate professional, but moreso, he was so understanding and accommodating for us through good times and bad. He will truly be missed by many in this community. My sympathies to the family and to all of the wonderful folks at Copy Express.

I just heard of the passing of my childhood friend, Danny. Mrs. Daugherty and Steve, myself and the rest of the Goff family are saddened to hear of Danny's passing. Although I hadn't seen Danny in many years by reading the postings I see he was still the same good hearted person that I knew and called my best friend. Remembering back to when our families lived next door to each other in the early 70's, all I can think of are the fun times we had even the times when our parents had to get after us for some of our mischievous actions. Danny will be missed.

I want to express my deepest sympathy to Dan's family and employees. Dan was not only the MOST dependable print vendor, he was a dear friend. Dan was always there for me... meeting incredible deadlines and often donating printing to those non-profit organizations that didn't have any budgets. He and my daughter shared the same birthday and I clearly remember on the morning she was born, there was around 15" of snow on the ground... and there he was in the hospital lobby with me going over proofs for some work that was due. (Much to my wife's dismay!)

I'm going to miss you buddy!

Dear Jinny, Aunt Carol, Steve and Vera:

I have many fond memories of my cousin Danny from our childhood when we visited Kentucky, or when he visited Charleston, memories of attending each others weddings and Daugherty Family reunions at Keeneland. Danny always gave me great advice on what horse to pick! I'll miss him and that Daugherty smile. I'm sure Bud and Uncle Tommy are taking him under their wings.

Much love to all of you.

Steve, Jinny and the rest of the Copy Express family:

Dan, and Bud before him, made your place a business like a big family. I consider it a pleasure to be a customer, a provider, but most of all a friend to Dan. He never failed to deliver and his generosity has not gone unnoticed. Enjoy the riches of heaven with your Dad and allow the CE family to know that you're in such a wonderful place.

Words cant say it, Dan was a very special man to me and many others, my heart and my prayers go to his family, Jinny, Steve and Vera, and to his mom Carol. What a special family. I have worked for and have been a part of the family for twenty years, and that is how they treat you, like part of the family. Dan and his father Bud saved my life and gave me a life many years ago, and I will forever be grateful and thankful. Dan was like a brother to me, always there and always willing to help. He was so helpful and understanding when I lost my father in september, as I was when he lost his. He and his family has taught me so much, and I Love and miss him. He will always live on in my heart and mind. And I will miss him forever. I wish the family peace, and if you guys need me for anything, please let me know, it would be an honor to me. If he knew I typed this much he would be amazed, He knows I cant type well at all, Plus he would scold me a little for doing it on company time. MY LOVE TO HIS FAMILY.

Even though Danny and I had our share of ups and downs, I must say he was a very good educator when it came to learning about printing, negotiating and pleasing the customer. It broke my heart to hear of his passing, but I know that he is much better off than we here on earth and he is probably with his dad cracking jokes and being at ease. Dan Daugherty was someone that no one could EVER forget and shall be severely missed. Jinny, Steve, Mrs. Daugherty, and the rest of the family...chin up, love life, and God Bless. Whenever a group comes together to tailgate or have a good time, his absence will be acknowledged and his presence tremendously missed. Dear Daugherty Family,

Dan was so good at helping others. His compassionate heart is what I'll remember most about him. I bet each employee here at Copy Express could tell you a story about a time when Danny did something to help them out on a personal level. I am so stunned and saddened by the news of Dan's death. Only God knows what better plan He has in store for Dan. I will never forget the first time I met Dan-nearly 20 years ago. I was responsible for printing at Parker Seal, even though I knew very little about printing. Dan wanted the business, and was smart enough to know that most people wouldn't trust a young kid to do all that work, so he brought Bud with him. Of course Bud was the charmer, but Dan did all the hard work - what a team. So while Bud was doing all the sweet-talking, Dan was making me look like I knew what I was doing when it came to printing. He grew into quite a businessman - and friend. My heart goes out to Jinny and Steve and Dana and Charlie, and everyone else touched by Dan's generosity and friendship. I will always remember him as a person with a very big heart.
