Ellie Hawse

1943 - 2025

Eleanor Congleton Hawse died peacefully on October 30, 2025. She was born on November 1, 1943 to Frank and Anna Bales Congleton in Richmond, KY. She attended Model Laboratory School, Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky graduating with a degree in accounting. She married Lionel Hawse and worked as a homemaker raising her two boys Alan and David Hawse. She then attended the Lexington Theological Seminary and graduated with a masters degree in theology. Ellie volunteered at the Community Kitchen and became a Board Member of the newly-established Hope Center of Lexington. She loved to spend time on the lake with her husband and their many friends. She adored her five grandchildren Anna, Michael, Thomas, Nicholas and Kate. No words can adequately describe the joy she felt when entertaining any gathering of family, friends, or strangers with a story. Ellie could always be identified and found in a crowd by her infectious laugh. She was predeceased by her loving husband Lionel Hawse on October 29, 2025 and is survived by her sons' families Alan, Jill, Anna and Nicholas Hawse and David, Beth, Michael, Thomas and Kate Hawse. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in her honor to the Hope Center of Lexington.
