Eugenia Whayne Obituary

Eugenia "Genie" Ingram Whayne, 85, beloved wife of the late Dr. Thomas "Tom" French Whayne, Jr., passed away peacefully on August 17th at her home in Lexington, KY. Born February 10th, 1940 in Harrodsburg, KY, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Givens "S.G." Ingram and Ruth McDonald Ingram, and sister to the late James "Jim" Ingram.

After graduating from Harrodsburg High School in 1957, Genie received her Bachelor's degree from Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, VA in 1961. She was an active participant in many local charities, including serving on the Board of Directors for Camp Horsin' Around (Perryville, KY) and the Ronald MacDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass (Lexington, KY).

Genie is survived by her three children, Tom (Camille) Whayne, Jim (Charlene) Whayne, and Kathy (John) Ficalora; six grandchildren, Landon, Hayden, Lew, Rachel, Madison and Gianna.

Memorial services will be held Friday, August 22 at Second Presbyterian Church (460 E. Main Street, Lexington, KY) with Visitation from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and funeral service at 12 p.m. Burial at Lexington Cemetery to immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Camp Horsin' Around (https://camphorsinaround.org/donate) in honor of Genie's lifelong commitment to philanthropy and service.

My deepest condolences to the family. Ms Whayne will surely be missed. A few of my fondness memories will be of her and enjoying the Ky Wildcats basketball games, working the NYT´s daily wordle to name a few. She was not only one that I had the pleasure of being a caretaker of, she became someone very special.
