Hugh Fredric Bloomfield
September 26, 1971 - August 7, 2025
LEXINGTON, Kentucky - It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hugh Fredric Bloomfield, 53, on Thursday, August 7, 2025. Born in Lexington to the late Alan Fredric and Irene Caudill Bloomfield. Hugh died peacefully with his family by his side.
Hugh had the greatest childhood growing up in Lakeshore village. He attended Cassidy Elementary, Morton Junior High, Millersburg Military Institute, and Lexington Community College. He grew up in his family's business and was an employee at Gall's Inc. until 1995. After Gall's, Hugh acquired his pilot's license and scared the hell out of Kim before starting his own company, H+K Grading + Excavation.
Born without a filter, Hugh had one of the greatest smiles on the planet, was as refreshing as they come, pure hearted, unbothered, mild, so genuine, amusing, generous, unconventional, and had a uniqueness like no other. Once described as, "A hell of a nice man and personal friend. If you could bottle his personality, we'd all be rich.'
Hugh spent more time on a bicycle than on his own two feet. All who had the privilege of knowing Hughbie knew he was very passionate about his many hobbies: Bicycles, skiing, bicycles, sailing, bicycles, building cars, bicycles, nights out with his buddies, bicycles, taking his cars to the track, bicycles, mountain bike racing, bicycles, scrolling Instagram reels, bicycles, jam nights, bicycles, hazy IPA beers, and bicycles. But let's be real, besides his passion for his family, it was mostly bicycles.
Hugh meant so much to many and cherished his circle of friends. Hugh loved his daughters profoundly, and was very proud of his marriage to Kim. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our families, friends, and neighbors who are like family who supported Hugh throughout his battle with ALS. Your love and unwavering support kept him on this earth a whole lot longer, and for that, we thank you for the time we got. Hugh believed a long bike ride could solve all your problems, so for his sake, please go for a long ride today.
Hugh will be greatly missed by his very devoted companion, Floyd. Hugh is survived by his loving wife of thirty years (35 together), Kimberly (Polly) Bloomfield, his adoring daughters, Alana Corrinne Bloomfield and Lilah Irene Bloomfield, his favorite sister, Stacy Louise Bloomfield, his brothers, David Lyle Trimble (Peggi), Mark Blair Trimble (Wendy), John Montjoy Trimble (Lori). His nieces and nephews, Ryan Bloomfield (Katie), Blake Bloomfield, Brandon Trimble (Megan), Margaret Blair Lloyd (Mike), Peter Montjoy Barnard Trimble (Gabrielle), Trey Trimble (Katie), Samuel Trimble (Paola), Victoria Blair Trimble, John Henry Trimble, Beau Lyle Trimble + Katherine Trimble, and Hadley Rose Lloyd.
Hugh wasn't a fan of doom and gloom. He wanted us to have a good time and celebrate his life. So, in his honor, please wear something colorful if you plan to attend.
