James Bruce Obituary

BRUCE James E., Jr., 89, widower of Lois Roberts Bruce, died Tue, Feb 17, 2015 at the Hospice Care Center. Mr. Bruce was born June 5, 1925 in Bowling Green, KY, to the late James E. Bruce, Sr., and Attie Belle Forsythe Bruce. He was a World War II Navy veteran, attended the University of Louisville, and was the owner of Bruce Distributing Company. Mr. Bruce was a member of the Baptist Faith, and enjoyed fishing and traveling. Survivors include two daughters, Bridget Bruce, Nicholasville, KY, and Melissa (Robert) Rhyne, Winthrop Harbor, IL; one son, Michael Bruce, Lexington, KY; a sister, Nell Stuart, Russellville, KY; three grandchildren, Paul Rhyne, Sarah Fortin, Dan Rhyne; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30am Sat at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrods-burg Rd., by Pastor Robert Rhyne. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 5-8pm Fri at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504.
