Richard Douglas Spaulding

VERSAILLES - Richard Douglas Spaulding, 80, died Fri, Oct 17 in Chandler, AZ. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Dorothy (Dot) Phillips Spaulding, and by his first wife Marjorie Foley Spaulding. Richard (also R.D. or Dick to his friends) is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Spaulding Salvucci of Arizona, a son, Henry (Hank) Spaulding of Hazard, a step-son, Jim Jarman of Versailles, and his grandchildren, Anthony (Tony) Salvucci, Matthew (Matt) Salvucci, Skyler Fugate, and Daniel Spaulding. Richard was born and raised in eastern Kentucky, and although he traveled and lived in many areas across the country, remained a Kentuckian at heart. Richard was a graduate of Hazard High School, the University of Kentucky, College of Agriculture, and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a farmer, Postmaster of the Clay City, KY, Post Office, and a Postal Inspector for almost 30 years. A memorial service will be held 11am, Thu, Nov 13, 2008, at the graveside in the Versailles Cemetery. Anyone who would like to celebrate Richard's life is invited.
