Stephen Summers Obituary

SUMMERS Stephen Hall, exited this life peacefully January 21, 2019. Born April 11, 1948, in Louisville to Polly and Turner Summers, Jr. He graduated from Seneca High School in Louisville in 1966 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Eastern Kentucky University in 1970. Described as "bon vivant," Steve served in the Jefferson County Board of Education, and Half Moon Bay Colonies, and was a good friend to many. He was a lifelong member and supporter of Sigma Chi fraternity (Beta Omega Chi chapter) and an enthusiastic sportsman as a wrestler, baseball player, swimmer and golfer. He loved reading, horse racing and intellectual debate. His quick wit and observations will be sorely missed by his countless friends and family. Preceded in death by his parents and niece Abigail, he is survived by his brother Turner A. Summers III (Penny), Sadieville, Kentucky, Martha E. Summers, Arthurdale, West Virginia, nephew Turner A. Summers IV, Louisville, Kentucky, niece Rachel Summers, Morgantown, West Virginia, grand-niece Heather Summers , Crestwood, Kentucky, and grand-nephew Neil Summers (Kayla), Louisville. Interment will be in Hall, West Virginia, his childhood summer home in a private service. As he wished, a celebration will be scheduled at a later date.

Deepest condolences to the family.
Steve and I became friends around age twelve. We hung out a lot, chasing girls, fishing in Baregrass Creek, and playing at Farnsley Park. Miss you buddy.

I'm so sorry to hear about Steve. He's been a friend of mine and Kent's for many years. When I think about Steve, I think about his warm smile, sensitive eyes, his intelligence, and his sense of humor. He was everyone's friend.

Cheryl "Sunshine" Sivak--He always called me "Sunshine" for one reason or another.
