1947 - 2024

Edward Key West - Zagorda Joseph Zagorda II Edward Joseph Zagorda II, age 76, of Key West, FL, embarked on his final adventure on Friday, May 17, 2024, leaving a trail of fond memories in his wake. Known for his brightly colored shirts and an even more colorful personality, Ed's life was filled with unexpected turns.

Born on July 28, 1947, in Hoboken, NJ, to the late Edward J. and Beatrice M. (Cantoli) Zagorda, Ed was a man of many talents and even more tales. He began his professional journey in education, but the call of the quirky led him to Key West in 1978. Then, along with his partner John Holder, he opened a guesthouse.

Ed's charisma and flair for hospitality didn't stop at guesthouses. He went on to work at and manage the iconic nightclubs, Saloon One, 801 and The Copa. In a twist that only Ed's life could take, he left the glitz of nightclub management to become seafood manager at Albertson's later Publix, despite being allergic to seafood!

Ed's porch on Simonton Street was his stage and his social club. With a cigarette in one hand and a colada in the other, he turned every passerby into a friend. His porch sessions were filled with laughter and endless stories.

He leaves behind his sister Diana (Charles) Colombo of NJ, brother Kevin (JoAnne) Zagorda of Colorado, niece Anne Colombo, nephew Paul Colombo, and Uncle Gerard Cantoli, all of NJ. Not to be forgotten are his cherished friends who he affectionately referred to as his "kids", Carrie Monterio and Rich Rossi, who will miss his spunky personality and endless antics.

Ed's departure will surely leave Key West with one less brightly dressed figure around town but heaven has undoubtedly gained a brighter star - one probably organizing celestial events and wearing the most outrageously wonderful socks.
