Aleece Beadle Obituary

Aleece Bobette Beadle, 93, of rural Dumont, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, at UnityPoint-Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2025, at Bristow Church of Christ – Bristow. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Bristow. Her family requests that all memorials be directed to Bristow Church of Christ in her memory. Aleece Bobette McNeilus was born January 17, 1932, the youngest of seven children, to William and Ethel (Walsh) McNeilus, ¼ mile west of Bristow. Aleece attended rural one room schools, Jefferson #2 near Coster and Jackson #5 northeast of Allison until she entered Bristow School when in 5th grade. She graduated from Bristow in 1949 and then attended Iowa State Teachers College, (now UNI) for 4 quarters, and later graduated from Wartburg College. She started teaching in a rural one room school (Spring Garden) southeast of Bristow. After teaching there for four years, she began teaching first grade at Dumont. With the exception of the five years, she taught in the Allison-Bristow school, the rest of her 43 ½ years teaching were devoted to the Dumont school. Aleece was married to William Beadle, December 22, 1951. They purchased a farm ½ mile west of Bristow in 1961, they resided there until their deaths. They had 3 children: Jacqueline, Tony and Brad. Aleece enjoyed playing softball, she pitched both fast and slow pitch until she turned 60. Other things she enjoyed included: raising bees, collecting brass handheld school bells, Kellog measuring cups, salt and pepper shakers, rockhounding and lapidary work, genealogy, wood working, and playing cards. She made many things for herself and family, including playhouses, rocking horses, cradles, gun cabinets, entertainment centers, a grandfather clock, and other furniture. Being active in the farming operation was part of her life as she greatly loved driving tractors and other equipment. Aleece was a member of the Church of Christ in Bristow. Aleece leaves to mourn her three children: Jacqueline (Wendell) Groen; Tony (Anna) Beadle; Brad (Lisa) Beadle; ten grandchildren: Michael (Katie) Groen; Christopher Groen; Benjamin (Tania) Groen; Courtney Williams, Britany Miller; Sierra Kreklau, Shayler Beadle, Baylee Beadle; Laney Beadle; Brock (Alexis) Beadle; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ethel McNeilus, husband William Beadle and brothers and sisters.
