Joseph Mittelstadt Obituary

Joseph Carl Mittelstadt, 81, of Kasson passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and son on Monday, July 7, 2025 at St Mary Hospital in Rochester. Joe was born on September 4, 1943, in Meridan Township Steele County MN to Carl and Minnie (Doering) Mittelstadt. He went to Kasson/Mantorville schools and Rochester Vo Tech. He proudly served in Navy from 1960 to 1964 as a SeaBee (Construction Battalion). He enjoyed the many SeaBee reunions catching up with old friends. He and Mary Ann Shotliff married on November 11, 1972 in Jordan, MN. They moved to Kasson in 1976. He spent many years as a cross country truck driver and did custom welding. Joe loved working on old cars, especially if it was a Nash or Rambler. You never saw Joe without a hat, a cup of coffee in a Kwik Trip mug or a Dr. Pepper. Joe is survived by his wife Mary Ann and son Carl (Jennifer). His grandchildren are Alex Fogal (Samantha), Jett and Carli Mittelstadt. His great-grandchildren are Emily and Benjamin Fogal, all of Kasson. He is survived by a brother Paul (LuAnn) of Spring Valley; a sister Ellen Mittelstadt of Plainview; sister-in-law Pam Mittelstadt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother David; and sisters Mary Unger and Myrna Barth. A celebration of life will be at a later date. Burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN.
