Percy Harrell Obituary

SNOW HILL | Percy Holden Harrell, 60, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 9, 2015. The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Memorial United Methodist Church, 106 W. Greene St., Snow Hill. The graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Cemetery, SE 4th Street, Snow Hill. Percy, born April 9, 1955, in Lenoir County was raised in Snow Hill. He ran Harrell Holden Hardware with his brothers. Once the store closed, he worked in various departments with the NC DOT for nearly 15 years. Percy was a longtime member of Calvary Memorial Methodist Church and served actively in Boy Scout Troop 74 for 33 years, 22 of those years as Scout Master. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Baumgartner Harrell; parents, Jack and Pat Harrell; and a brother, Gene Harrell. Percy is survived by his son, Matthew Harrell and wife Stacy, of Snow Hill; brothers, Dr. Jack Harrell and wife Kay, of Kinston and George Harrell and wife Linda, of Snow Hill; sister, Mary Holden Burke and husband Tom, of Burlington; sister-in-law, Kitty C. Harrell of Atlantic Beach; and brothers-in-law, Robert Baumgartner and wife Sara, of Alliance, Ohio, Richard Baumgartner and wife Pam, and Tom Bumgarner and wife Dede, all of Clayton. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall Friday evening following the service and other times at the home of George and Linda Harrell, 513 Sturbridge Dr., Snow Hill, NC 28580. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Troop 74, c/o Dawn Jarman, Treasurer, 231 Hardy Rd., Snow Hill, NC 28580 or to Calvary Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O.
