Albert Abbadessa Obituary

Albert James Abbadessa, 88, of Macon MO, passed away on April 16, 2021 of natural causes.

Al is survived by children Dr. Steve Abbadessa and wife Jana of St. Louis, MO, Vicki Abbadessa of Kirkwood, MO, Becky Witt of Tampa, FL, Andrea Mathewson and husband John of Westport, CT, and Michael Abbadessa of Macon, MO.

Please join the Abbadessa family for a Memorial Celebration to be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at The Pear Tree/AJ's in Macon, MO from 3:00-7:00pm.

Sorry to hear about Al´s passing. I had the pleasure of supplying his restaurant with outdoor advertising for over 20 years. He was a real pleasure to do business with. I remember delicious food both at the Gaslight at Macon coming back from Mizzou football games and the Pear Tree in Bevier. Al was always there with a friendly word. The example of a real "hands on" proprietor. I am sending the family of Al our sincere sympathy. May God bless you.

I send my deepest sympathy to all of the family and my sincere Blessings for each of you.
Al was one of my first employers in 1978 after recently graduating High School. I cleaned the Beaumont Room before going to my other job at the Welcome-Travelier Motel. I worked for him, again, at The Gaslight and a third time when he called me to help with the catering part of the restaurant.
He told me that I always had job if I needed it. He said he would create a position for me if he didn't have one available. No one will ever understand how that sense of security and that faith in me touched my life.
I was Blessed to have Al as a friend and to be able to enjoy his wry sense of humor. I was Blessed to have Carol as a friend and share her love of antiques and decorating.
While we feel sadness it must be a great joy for Al and Carol to be together again.
Relish your memories and smile and know I'm here if I can help during this heartbreaking time.

Dear Mike and Abbadessa Family,
Thinking of you and remembering Al. We considered most all the restaurants he was associated with as our "all time favorites". We first tasted his food at the Potted Steer at the Lake of the Ozarks and then went to eat many times at the Pear Tree in Bevier although we had to drive a total of 180 miles round trip just to have the special onion rings, battered lobster, wonderful salad, (love the special dressings) and, of course, the homemade ice cream. We even visited the Twisted Tree in St. Louis and found that the special Abbadessa menu was included there. Our most recent trips to eat were to A.J.'s (Pear Tree) in Macon. Our entire family rates these restaurants as the best tasting food we have ever eaten. Thank you Mike, for carrying on this family tradition. What a legacy he leaves behind.
