Lori Shook Obituary

LORI ANN (KOCH) SHOOK, age 54, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away on July 21, 2025. She was born in Quincy, Illinois, on February 4, 1971, the daughter of James and Mary Ellen (Whitmer) Koch.

Lori graduated from Quincy High School in 1989 and went on to earn a
degree in art history from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State) in 1993. Afterwards, she continued her education at Texas Tech University, earning her Master of Architecture in 1996.
After her education, Lori worked as a licensed architect at several
architectural firms in the Dayton, Ohio area, including Woolpert, McCall Sharp Architecture, and Levin & Porter. In 2007, she relocated to Kirksville and worked for 18 years at Truman State University in the Office of Campus Planning.

Lori was a faithful member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. She found joy in watching her daughter participate in various activities, including swimming, cross-country, and track and field. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially on trips to Clearwater Beach, Disney amusement parks, and local, out-of-the-way historical sites.

Lori was preceded in death by her father, James Koch. Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Kenneth Shook; her daughter, Rosemary Shook; her mother Mary Ellen (Whitmer) Koch of Quincy, Illinois, her sister and brother-in-law, Kent and Jill (Koch) Hulsey of Heber Springs, Arkansas; her sister, Susan Marie (Koch) Tode of Quincy, Illinois; her brother and sister- in-law, Timothy and Tracy Koch of Clearwater, Florida; and several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation, followed by a prayer vigil for the deceased, will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Mary Immaculate Church in Kirksville, Missouri, with Father Chris Cordes officiating. Burial Rite of Committal will follow at Mary Immaculate Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Lori's name to the Mary Immaculate Catholic School, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Truman State University Foundation – Friends of the Gallery.

I'm grateful to have known Lori. I only saw her a few times a year for work the past 10 years, but she meant a lot to me. I'll miss her smile, wit and her love of her family and life. Sending prayers and kindness to Rosemary and Ken. Lori was a blessing.
