As my senior year of high school began, in 1978, I moved with my family to Nebraska. Having just left all my friends and my home in Virginia, I was not happy. But in Nebraska I soon met David and he became one of my closest friends.

We got into a bit of trouble a few times back then, but mainly we had a lot of good times. After we each moved elsewhere, we kept in touch and got together every few years.

For almost 39 years we knew each other and we had our share of disagreements, but I certainly was blessed to have been David's friend.

I will miss him. And I hope his mother and sisters and everyone who is grieving for him will find comfort. I'm sure that David is at peace.
