DAVID LESLIE McMANUS

McMANUS, DAVID LESLIE - age 64, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He was a retired shop foreman with U-Haul. David was an avid drag racer over the years, having raced and won many times at Maryville, Knoxville, 411, and Bristol. During the last nine years, he and his grandson were active members of the Junior Drag Racing League, racing at Bristol, English Mountain, Knoxville, Indy, Carolina Dragway, and Alabama International Dragway. David was especially known for his vast knowledge of cars and always having just the right advice and tool on-hand. Dave will be greatly missed by his family and friends at McManus Auto Sales. He was preceded in death by wife, Barbara McManus; parents, Enoch and Louise McManus; brothers, Stewart and Sonny McManus; and sisters, Patricia Strohm and Mildred Wilson. David is survived by his son, Les McManus; granddaughter, Ashlynn McManus; grandson, Joey Beeler; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Anna McManus; twin sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Charlie Sharp; sister-in-law, Jean McManus; sister, Allie Cheshire; brothers, Hugh McManus and Jack Hobbs; special nephews/brothers, Jim, Joe and Sam; and beloved pets, Logan and Miss Kitty. Funeral service 3:00 p.m., Sunday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Reverend Steve Merritt officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Sumter Community Cemetery. Pallbearers are members of the Junior Drag Racing League. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fort Sumter Community Cemetery, P.O. Box 70283, Knoxville, TN 37938.
