John Burnette Hollingsworth (Jay), age 86, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2016, at his home. Jay was born in Knoxville and attended Knoxville High School and the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, where he was a member of the James Park Class. Jay was president and owner of Industrial Belting & Supply Company where he devoted over 50 years of his life. He was past president of the Downtown Optimist Club, and past president of the Y's Men's Club of Knoxville. He was a longtime member of Holston Hills Country Club and the Holston Hills 'Garden Club'.

Jay was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Williams Hollingsworth; sister, Holly Watts; and parents, John (Bonnie) and Christine Hollingsworth, of Strawberry Plains. He is survived by sons, John Hollingsworth, III (Kathy), Bill Hollingsworth (Susan); daughter, Lee Anne Demastus (Mike); grandchildren, Jill and Jay Hollingsworth, Dana Shoudy (Brian) and Zach Hollingsworth (Demi), and Laura Lee and Rob Demastus (Lee Marie); and great-grandchildren, Addison and Houston Shoudy, and Ellen Demastus.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Rose Mortuary, Broadway Chapel. A graveside service will be held Friday, at Greenwood Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Jay's memory to First Presbyterian Church, 620 State Street, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37902. John and family, so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad! Such a good guy and I sure had fun joking with him when Barbara was at Holston! With parents like you had, I know why you all grew up to be good adults! I will remember you in my prayers! Just know how sorry I am!
