Norma Mulliniks Obituary

Norma Jaynes Mulliniks

Marietta, GA - Norma Jaynes Mulliniks, 85 of Marietta, GA passed on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from complications of pneumonia. Born in Oak Ridge, TN on June 19, 1935, Mrs. Mulliniks was the daughter of Edward H. Jaynes and Irene Smith Jaynes.

Mrs. Mulliniks was a graduate of East Tennessee State University where she received a B.S. degree in education. She was president of the Kappa Delta sorority at ETSU in 1956 and 1957, a member of the honorary group, Kappa Delta Pi, and was listed in the Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.

Mrs. Mulliniks was a devoted wife and mother with a tremendous commitment to family. Norma was blessed in many ways, but her love, support and acclamation for her children and grandchildren was her ultimate joy. She planned and created many family traditions (Vacations and Holiday's) that will continue to be carried forward. She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN and established many great relationships with her Sunday School Class. Norma was an amazing supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers, attending football and basketball games for many years. She proudly wore orange on game day, and she will be ever remembered as part of the Vol Nation.

Mrs. Mulliniks retired as a Physical Education teacher at Farragut Middle School. Her inspiration, motivation and team spirit had a significant influence on many young girls. After retiring, she did volunteer work with East Tennessee Children's Hospital where she donated 2,674 hours of service. Norma was described by those she worked with "as a woman who carries herself with such grace and always shows kindness". Additionally, in 2006 she received the Anne D. Regas award. This was awarded annually for exemplary commitment, courage and perseverance in volunteer service from East Tennessee Children's Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 62 yrs., Edward C. Mulliniks, of Marietta, GA; son Mike Mulliniks (Ruthie) of Franklin, TN, her daughter Deborah Bowman (Phil) of Marietta, GA, her son Mark Mulliniks of Louisville, KY.

Mrs. Mulliniks is also survived by her brother Gary Jaynes (Cindy) of Hixon, TN, and grandchildren Michael Mulliniks (Renee) of Rochester Hills, MI; Christopher Mulliniks (Amanda) of Nashville, TN; Taylor Mulliniks of Chattanooga, TN; Kristopher Ulbrich of Okinawa, Japan, Nicholas Ulbrich of Fort Rucker, AL. , Eric Ulbrich of Manhattan, NY, Hunter Bowman of Chicago, IL, Philip Bowman of Savannah, GA; Ashton McMicking (Chris), of Atlanta GA; Steven Mulliniks (Kaitlyn) of Shepherdsville, KY and Kristin Mulliniks of Lexington, KY. In addition, she is survived by ten great grandchildren.
