Philip Williams Obituary

WILLIAMS, PHILIP F. JR. (PHIL) - age 72 of Knoxville, formerly of Hopkinton, MA passed away Tuesday evening, January 4, 2011. Phil was an active member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, where he served two terms on the Vestry. He was born in Concord, MA and raised in Maynard, MA. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1960 with a degree in Business Administration. Phil served during the Vietnam War with the US Navy. During his lifetime he enjoyed hiking, cross country skiing, golf and spending time with his family and friends at his getaway home in Northern New Hampshire. Phil retired from GTech in 1998, previously spending many years with Digital Equipment Corporation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Larson Williams and Philip Francis Williams, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marcia Pittman Williams; sons, Philip Francis Williams III and wife, Betsy of Ridgewood, NJ and their children, Philip IV and Lily; son, Christopher Marcus Williams of Atlanta, GA; sister, Sharon Williams Whittaker and husband, Clyde of Douglas, MA; nieces, Michelle, Elizabeth, Cindy, Kim and nephew Albert. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, Farragut, with The Rev. Carol Westpfahl and The Rev. Dr. Richard Brown III, celebrants. The family will receive friends following the service in Tharpe Hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, 110 Sugarwood Drive, Farragut, TN 37934.
